National Lorry Week

National Lorry Week is back for its ninth year, brought to us by the Road Haulage Association (RHA). Every year, the RHA dedicates a week to celebrate the incredible contributions of the haulage and logistics industry, and to raise awareness with those from outside the industry too. RHA National Lorry Week is an event that honours the vital role that lorries and truck drivers play in keeping the UK economy moving. This annual celebration is a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge the hard work, dedication, and innovation that power the logistics sector.

The haulage and logistics industry is the unsung hero of the UK economy. It touches the lives of every citizen, and yet, its significance often goes unnoticed. Our industry is responsible for transporting goods to stores, hospitals, factories, and countless other locations, ensuring that essential products are readily available to everyone. From fresh produce to medical supplies, from manufacturing materials to online shopping deliveries, the logistics sector is the lifeblood of the nation.

This year’s National Lorry Week celebrates the hardworking people in the sector helping work towards a greener future by celebrating and showcasing the latest eco-friendly vehicles, fuels, and warehousing innovations that are driving a positive change in the industry.

Not only is National Lorry Week highlighting the developments in sustainability in the transport sector, but the RHA is looking to inspire the next generation by promoting road safety among primary school children and showcasing the vital role lorries play in our lives, recognising the importance of nurturing the future talent of the transport industry.

At Platts, this year, we’ve partnered with Tiger Trailers to pilot their road safety program to local schools across North Wales. As a transport company, we feel it’s important to highlight the dangers that large vehicles pose to children and promote road safety. Especially as a company based in the countryside, many different dangers need to be highlighted to children. The program is designed to highlight these dangers and show children the different ways to stay safe on the roads.

We want to take the opportunity to thank all the #PlattsPeople who make up our dedicated team for their hard work. For a glimpse of some of our team and their lorries in action, click the link to see our National Lorry Week video.
