At Platts Transport Limited, we operate a professional and well-organised haulage business where work is realistically planned, vehicles are well maintained and drivers are supported to do their job properly.
As our operation continues to grow, we are recruiting Class 1 and Class 2 HGV drivers to join an experienced, established and award-winning transport team. If you are looking for a driving role where the day-to-day operation runs smoothly and standards are taken seriously, Platts Transport offers a stable and rewarding long-term opportunity.
A Transport Business Built on Experience
Platts Transport was established in 2020 during a period of significant challenge for the logistics industry. Drawing on decades of experience running an in-house transport operation within the wider Platts Group, the business began offering reliable haulage services to support essential supply chains and safeguard jobs during the first national lockdown.
That practical approach has remained central to the business. What began as a support operation has since developed into a standalone haulage company delivering general haulage nationwide, while continuing to support sister company Platts Agriculture.
From the outset, the focus has been on doing things properly. This includes investing in the right vehicles, maintaining clear processes and planning work realistically to support both customers and drivers.
What It Is Like to Work at Platts Transport
Platts Transport is a family-owned business with strong agricultural roots and a long-term outlook. The company is led by third-generation Managing Director Chris Whittaker and operates according to clear values of pride, passion, trust and loyalty.
These values are reflected in how the transport operation runs day to day. Work is structured and organised, communication is clear and safety is embedded into everyday working practices. Drivers know what is expected of them and are supported by a transport team that plans work properly and operates to consistent standards.
Drivers who join Platts Transport often comment on how well the work is planned and how smoothly the day-to-day operation runs compared to previous roles.

An Award-Winning Transport Team
In October 2025, Platts Transport was recognised nationally after winning the Health and Safety Leaders Award at the Logistics Leaders Awards 2025.
This award reflects the standards applied across the entire transport operation. From vehicle maintenance and compliance through to planning, procedures and on-road support, health and safety is treated as a priority at every level of the business.
It is recognition of the professionalism and consistency demonstrated by the transport team every day.
Driving Careers at Platts Transport
Platts Transport is built around an experienced and established driving team. The business is run with long-term driving careers in mind, offering consistency, clear expectations and a transport operation that works day to day.
Many drivers choose to remain with Platts Transport because the work is organised, planning is realistic and experience is valued. For those who wish to progress, opportunities do arise within the wider transport operation.
A clear example of this is Tom Mortimer, who joined Platts in 2021 as a driver and later progressed into a management role overseeing Group transport operations while completing his Transport Manager CPC qualification.
Reflecting on his journey, Tom said:
“The most rewarding part of my career at Platts has been winning the first ever award for Platts Transport, Health and Safety Leader of the Year. I have always aimed to progress, and Platts has been extremely supportive throughout my development.”
A Modern, Well-Maintained Fleet
Platts Transport operates a growing fleet of artics, rigids and a hookloader, allowing the business to handle a wide range of load types and customer requirements.
Rigid vehicles typically carry 14 or 16 pallets, while artic loads range from 24 to 26 pallets. Rigid vehicles are fitted with truck-mounted Moffetts to support efficient unloading at delivery points.
All HGV vehicles are equipped with TomTom live tracking, enabling accurate location information and reliable estimated arrival times. The fleet is maintained to a high standard through the Group’s own DVSA-approved commercial vehicle workshop.
A range of shift patterns is available, including Monday to Friday and four on, four off, supporting flexibility while maintaining consistent service levels.
